Chef

We are looking for a Chef to prepare, cook, and serve vegan meals.

They’ll collaborate with a team of staff and volunteers to creatively design, continually improve, and harmoniously implement our vegan menu and support the oversight of our kitchen’s operational aspects to create the best dining experience possible for our students and community members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee kitchen staff and volunteers to ensure a high-quality dining experience.
• Supervise the preparation of vegan meals for yoga modules and retreats, ensuring a balanced diet for students.
• Work with the Kitchen Coordinator to create an inspiring kitchen environment, help design the menu, and adjust it for seasonal changes.
• Help the Kitchen Coordinator maintain health and safety standards and train the kitchen team in hygiene and food safety.
• Monitor the condition of equipment, appliances, utensils, etc., and communicate any needs to the Kitchen Coordinator.

Qualifications:

While serving at our centers and working with others, it’s essential to cultivate the Karma Yoga spirit, consciously integrating daily responsibilities into spiritual practice.

The ideal candidate has:
- Proven experience cooking for many people, including but not limited to commercial/industrial kitchen environments (retreat centers, restaurants, hotels, etc.)
- Experience in menu design and implementation
- Pragmatic leadership skills and the ability to manage diverse teams
- Intuitive organizational and multitasking skills
- High standards of hygiene and a thorough knowledge of food safety protocols
- Excellent communication skills in English and proficiency in French
